We recently had the incredible opportunity to travel to Dubai to teach a 4-day Adobe InDesign course at the DMX - Dubai Municipality Academy, arranged through Boost Consulting and Training on LinkedIn. The preparation process, which started months in advance, focused on teaching introductory InDesign skills with a special emphasis on app design layouts. The students, dressed in traditional Arab attire, added a rich cultural dimension to the experience, and despite the scorching Dubai heat,

One unexpected challenge was working with Arabic text, which brought unique design questions such as font choices and right-to-left formatting. However, I thrive on these kinds of challenges, and the engagement from the learners made the experience truly rewarding. Teaching in Dubai reinforced our belief that Adobe skills and design principles are universally applicable, and it’s inspired us to expand our training services to other international locations.

The creative team behind the all social media and inhouse graphic design needed a way to upskill and visualize web page animation and interaction with zero web and animation experience.
XD conveniently covers both and adds the added value of gathering user testing and feedback from clients without them needing to export out of the software, this being hugely beneficial allowing the team to update projects at a moments notice.
Photoshop was also enlisted with layers and non-destructive masks being taught to a high level, the use of the Creative Clouds Libraries became invaluable for updating components in XD with Adobes ‘Live link’ proving to be very efficient, if the team was in Bath, and I in Glasgow up could instantly update your project by updating the linked graphics effectively allowing members of the design team to work from home on the same (well, different components) project efficiently.

Staff were divided up into their relative AE skill levels to make best use of everyone's time, using Microsoft Teams we arranged 4 x 3 hour evening training sessions throughout the month, the sessions would take place from 6pm in the evening (UK) as staff from London, Arizona, Florida and Minnesota were joining. The training has now taken place two years in a row to allow staff to move from Introduction to Intermediate / Intermediate to Advanced, this also factors in new staff.
This was an introduction course over two days customized to requirements for a mixed skill set group (with one online) Not only did I successfully teach the software but I waffled on about design trends, best practices and project creation from idea generation, storyboard to deadline.
I spent two days with Simon learning the basics of Adobe After Effects. The sessions were relaxed but informative, working through a few 'projects' while learning where everything was and how to do different techniques. Being able to ask questions and troubleshoot with a real person was much better for me than trying to learn from online videos. Friendly chat and a sense of humour made the sessions enjoyable too.
Given that the After Effects software training was all done through Zoom, it went remarkably well. Simon was a lovely guy, super approachable, and never made anyone feel silly for the questions asked. His passion for what he does also showed, it encouraged me to work harder which was nice. It showed he cared about it.
Simon was a great teacher. He made us feel relaxed and went at a steady pace so we could follow with ease. I have come away with more knowledge about After Effects to apply to my working the future.
I have just completed a three day Advanced Illustrator course with Simon, and would happily recommend his training services. Despite having a good working knowledge of Illustrator prior to the training, I am now working much more efficiently, taking advantage of tools and shortcuts introduced by Simon I'd previously overlooked.
I've just finished two days Photoshop training with Simon and have certainly walked away feeling more confident handling the software and more inspired to create much-improved graphics and designs. Simon certainly has vast software knowledge, as well as a genuine understanding of brand and design. There is no challenge or question that he can't tackle!
